Approximately 100 years ago, workwear typically consisted of a jacket, shirt, vest, trousers, and hat. While the materials and silhouette differed from today's three-piece suits, it appeared far more elegant compared to modern styles. However, the sturdy, durable materials of workwear, combined with a well-worn, used look, enhance its simple, rugged coolness. Tough and rugged, yet somehow nostalgic and elegant—this classic workwear style is the theme for Brocante's 26AW collection. Based on this theme, we've used carefully selected materials and applied special processing to create a collection with a vintage feel, a unique finish that's distinctly Brocante.

This tweed twill fabric, with its soft, fluffy texture and feel reminiscent of wool twill, is a Brocante original fabric made on a denim loom. The yarn on the side that touches the skin is 100% cotton, making it gentle on the skin and easy to care for, even being machine washable. The surface is softly brushed, giving it a uniquely soft feel that makes you want to keep touching it. Because the surface yarn uses recycled yarn made from wool and acrylic waste, it is also a sustainable and ecological material.

I've always dreamed of making clothes out of sumi-dyed cotton velvet, and after countless prototypes and design sessions, I finally realized this special Brocante original fabric using soft organic cotton velvet. The unique wrinkles and cracks (dye creases) give it a rugged, vintage feel, and the rough color and texture, combined with the classic and substantial feel of velvet, create a truly one-of-a-kind "sumi-dyed velvet." The garment has been pre-washed, giving it a worn-in, vintage look, reflecting the designer's desire for it to be worn casually as everyday wear, without any pretense of it being velvet.

While I was looking to recreate a medieval European pourpoint, I came across a Korean ibul quilt (a washed cotton padded quilt) with its unique, finely stitched cotton material that is washable. The textured, bumpy feel created by the washing process gives it a warm appearance, and I was surprised and delighted to see that this ancient technique, used for warmth since ancient times, is still being carried on today. This ibul quilt uses a fine-count, delicate, and smooth high-quality cotton material, resulting in a soft texture that feels incredibly comfortable against the skin.
